Throwback Thursday: Best Cupcakes in Montreal

While I do live in Toronto, I go to Montreal often as I’m from Quebec and my family still lives there. My sister lives in an amazing apartment in Outremont so I try and stay with her as much as I can. Every time I visit she takes me around the city to show me her favorite places. Being a cupcake connoisseur, I asked her to hunt down the best cupcakes in Montreal so she took me to Simplement D Liche cupcakes. Coincidentally they just happen to be named almost exactly like my favorite spot here in Toronto that I already covered in my first blog post.

Right on St. Denis, their boutique is clean and classic, with white walls and a few chairs if you wanted to enjoy their cupcakes with organic tea or coffee from a local roaster. The cupcakes are prominently presented on a long counter behind glass so it’s super easy to choose. The owners are very friendly. Plus their storefront is adorable with a display that changes every so often. Last time I went, they had an amazing “Starry Night” cupcake display.

D Liche makes amazing cupcakes that come in either mini or regular. I love getting the mini ones since I can sample more flavors without feeling too guilty. They have varying flavors every week with staples like Red Velvet, Dulce de Leche, Peanut Butter and Chocolate as well as seasonal flavors like Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Key Lime and even really interesting ones like Tomato or Fig and Goat Cheese. They only use the best ingredients that are mostly organic as my sister would insist upon. Once you’ve agonized over what flavors to get, the cupcakes come artfully arranged in cute boxes.

If you visit or live in Montreal, make sure to stop by D Liche for the best cupcakes in the city.
