Last week Disney announced that it was releasing a Disney Channel Original Movie entitled Descendants featuring the kids of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, Snow White’s Evil Queen and Jafar! According to Disney:
The film takes place in a present-day idyllic kingdom, where the benevolent teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic Beauty and the Beast) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making spawn of Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants (Carlos, Mal, Evvie and Jay, respectively) are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma. Should they follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power, or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom?
I’m sold. They had me at “Disney villains’ children”. Kenny Ortega, from High School Musical, will direct and it should be out in 2015. This announcement has inspired me to come up with some villainous looks to channel your inner Disney devil.
Cruella De Vil: Obviously there was no other choice but to go with something that had dalmatian print on it for the super-stylish baddie. This Chloé dress should satisfy her spot obsession.
Maleficent: Supreme evil meets high drama in this next gown. The malevolent mistress loves black, floor length, a distinctive neckline, dramatic sleeves and lots of movement, which is exactly what you get from this St. Laurent “Le smoking” gown.
Snow White’s Evil Queen: Her desire to be the fairest in all the land will finally come true. All eyes will be on her in this purple Versace gown that has no equal.
Jafar: As the Royal Vizier, Jafar needs to wear something grand and worthy of world domination. This Zac Posen Cape Gown accentuates the shoulders and has a very structured silhouette, just as our sinister sorcerer demands it.
