Football Wild Card Recap and the Fashion It Inspires

Thanks to The League, I have been introduced to the wonderful world of fantasy football and consequently football. I did not win my league this year, but now that fantasy season is over, my love for the game has endured. I’ve been following the playoffs and looking forward to my annual Super Bowl Party. This past weekend was Wild Card Weekend and the match-ups were really fun to watch. Here are my thoughts on each game and the outfits they inspire all from Forever 21:

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts: Best game of the weekend, hands down. Amazing efforts by both teams. I was rooting for the Chiefs since they’ve had a great season and my boyfriend’s from Missouri. They took on an early lead but bad luck befell them as top player after top player got injured. Despite these injuries, the offense still put up 44 points. The usually stellar defense however let the Colts come back to win it by one point. Thrilling football at its finest.
The pattern on the cardigan reminded me of arrows, the Chiefs’ logo. While the horses were a no-brainer for the Colts.

New Orleans Saints vs. Philadelphia Eagles: The Colts/Chiefs game was a very tough act to follow. Everyone was excited for this match-up but I was not impressed during the first half. The second half was much better with the score staying fairly close right down to the last minutes. I’m happy the Saints won though, since the first Super Bowl I ever watched was when Drew Brees and the Saints won.
This sweater has the French of course, but more importantly, the word “cool” alluding to the fact that Brees kept his cool and finally won in cold weather as the commentators kept pointing out. The eagle is once again, self-explanatory.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers: This is the match-up I didn’t really care about all that much but since it’s the NFL playoffs, it was still pretty fun to watch. As much as things were not going well for the Chiefs, everything seemed to be coming up Chargers at this game. I thought the Bengals would for sure crush San Diego who barely made it to the playoffs but that was not the case. Color me surprised and a bit disappointed since I really wanted the Colts to face the Broncos, but oh well.
The tiger and the playfulness make this perfect to cheer the Bengals on. This sweater‘s pattern looks like lightning bolts to me.

Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers: When teams as good as these two play, you know it’s gonna make for great football. The first half was pretty back and forth with San Francisco taking the lead. Aaron Rodgers woke up and played better in the 2nd quarter. After halftime, the defenses from both sides were playing really well and kept the same score for the 3rd. Then everything went insane during the 4th. Rodgers gets out of a tight spot to convert then San Francisco comes back. Cobb makes an amazing catch and Green Bay gets a field goal to tie the game with 5 minutes left. And San Francisco wins via field goal.
It’s really hard to find an outfit representing the Packers, but this one is athletic and classic much like Green Bay. I encountered the opposite problem for San Francisco, there were a lot of cute options, but this boho-chic sweater is perfect.
