Friday Favorites

Happy Friday! I’m not sure if it’s the weather, but I could not wait for this week to be over. On Tuesday, my boss asked me if it was Friday yet. Here’s to my favorite things from this week and to making the most of the weekend.

Shoutout to Dlish Cupcakes for their amazing twitter contest! I won cupcakes and tickets to the Mockingjay Part 1 premiere, which turned out to be a good thing since I could’ve just waited for it to come out on DVD. I’ll probably write a review on it for next week.

Loving the Second Cup holiday cups this year since they’re Tiffany blue.

The new board game cafe that just opened up next to our apartment is pretty sweet.

Start your weekend off right with this gem:

It Happened This Week…

Information Overload this week! Yes, I’m looking at you Marvel. I don’t think I even have time for an introduction, let’s jump right in:

…in the form of the most awesome trailer of all time (SO FAR)

I hope by now you’ve seen this. It aired during S.H.I.E.L.D. this week. I’ve probably watched it at least 20 times and counting.

If that doesn’t have you peeing your pants in excitement, then this next piece (or pieces) of info should.

…in Hollywood
Marvel decided it was going to announce a whole bunch of movies on Tuesday like it was no big deal! Here’s the full line-up:
Captain America: Civil War – May 6, 2016.
Doctor Strange – November 4, 2016
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – May 5, 2017
Thor: Ragnarok – July 28, 2017
Black Panther – November 3, 2017
With the amazing Chadwick Boseman as the lead!
Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) – July 6, 2018
Inhumans – November 2, 2018
Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 – May 4, 2018
Avengers: Infinity War Part 2– May 3, 2019
PHEW! Looks like we have the next few years of our lives scheduled out, guys. Thanks, Marvel, for telling me exactly what I’ll be doing for all the aforementioned dates. To get more in-depth, I’ll just leave you at the able hands of The Mary Sue with their handy dandy recap. I’ll just be here still freaking out.

Now I almost feel bad for the rest of the news I’m about to mention since while interesting, they’re nowhere near as epic as above.

…in District 13

I’m not ready for this.

…in the TARDIS

I’m also not prepared for Series 8 to end.

Have an awesome Thursday!

It Happened This Week…

Happy Thursday everyone! It’s time for my weekly round-up of nerdy news. Now I’ll start off with something that happened on Friday last week so I didn’t include it in the previous “It Happened” post but it’s pretty huge news especially in our household:

ICYMI…this happened last week
I squealed when I read the news that TNT is close to ordering a pilot for Titans, revolving around Nightwing, former Robin Dick Grayson, and yup, the Teen Titans. And even more excited? My boyfriend Keith. While the majority of DC fans probably prefer the Justice League or the Justice Society, Keith is obsessed with the Teen Titans and the Legion of Superheroes. I myself got hooked with Perez and Wolfman’s 80s New Teen Titans run, which is what the show is supposed to be based on. SO. FREAKING. EXCITED.

Back to our regularly scheduled program:

…in District 13

This is the next big movie coming out so thanks for finally releasing an actual trailer, guys!

…in 1946
Some pretty exciting Agent Carter casting news was announced regarding Jarvis! Yes, Tony Stark’s AI butler will make his live-action debut as Howard Stark’s real-life butler played by James D’Arcy.

…in Central City
A familiar face to fans of the original The Flash series is coming to CW’s The Flash. Dr. Tina McGee played by Amanda Pays will come back, not as Barry Allen’s love interest which she was originally but as an employee of a rival company to STAR Labs.

…in Hell’s Kitchen, New York
Some interesting casting news was announced for Netflix’s Daredevil, Scott Glenn has been cast as Matt Murdock’s mentor, Stick. Now, I’m not familiar with the Daredevil comics but apparently Stick is supposed to be of Japanese origin, even though it’s not explicitly stated. Huh.

…in the TARDIS

As a big fan of heist movies, this next episode is right up my alley.

…in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe
Since we’re desperate for any and all news regarding the Avengers sequel, Marvel threw us a bone by giving us the official synopsis of Age of Ultron. It doesn’t really tell us anything new but it assembles all the info and all the characters set to appear in the film in a nice, neat little package.

…in Starling City
You know how Arrow has just been casting Spartacus (one of my fandoms) alumni left and right? Well they’ve done it again with Nick Tarabay cast as Captain Boomerang. It’s interesting to note that while the majority of the Starz show’s cast was Australian, they got the one American to play an Australian villain. I’m not knocking the casting choice, just pointing out the irony.

And finally enjoy, you’re welcome:

It Happened This Week…

As we’re nearing the start of Fall shows, we’ll probably get more teasers, posters and trailers about the upcoming shows. Here’s a round-up of this week’s latest nerdy news:

…at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters
A first look at Lucy Lawless guest-starring in this season’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! SQUEE. Damn, I definitely should catch up on this show.

…in District 13
Wired released some Hunger Games: Mockingjay posters and my of course my favorite one is Natalie Dormer’s.

…in the Marvel Cinematic Universe
The Mary Sue has put together a great post regarding Hawkeye’s involvement in Cap 3 and what that could mean for Black Widow, details on The Defenders series on Netflix as well as more Doctor Strange casting rumors.

…in an alternate universe
USA Today reported that Donald Glover is the voice of Miles Morales in the new season of Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors! Ah dream come true.

…in the TARDIS

Yes, I watched Capaldi’s first episode as the Doctor. I will eventually review the 12th Doctor but I’m waiting until I’ve seen a couple more episodes before I do. Looking forward on his encounter with a Dalek!

…in Central City

Fast-forward to October 7, fast-forward to October 7!

Happy Thursday and happy first day of Fan Expo if you’re going.
