That NFC Championship Game tested my heart. From the unbelievably awful first half to the even more unlikely comeback, I was cheering like crazy. My Hawks are going back to the Super Bowl and I could not be happier. No matter the outcome, I’m just glad we even made it back to back years, a feat in itself. If you’re a Seahawks fan like myself, or if you just can’t stand the Patriots, here are a few ways to show your allegiance:

Football Season is almost upon us and I could not be more excited. The season seems to end far too soon and then our watch begins…but now the wait is over because my Seahawks are taking on the Green Bay Packers in Thursday’s Season Opener. The rest of the league joins in on the fun on Sunday. In the spirit of gathering up some friends to watch the big game, I’m rounding up my favorite crowd-pleaser recipes.
The Dip: Guacamole
I love avocados so when I saw this recipe for guacamole with a twist (you add beer!), I was sold. It’s going to be the perfect chip dip for this season.
The Main: Chicken Wings
Jerk. Chicken. Wings. JERK. CHICKEN. WINGS. ‘Nuff said.
The Dessert: Pretzel S’more Crunch Bar
It’s a mouthful to say and hopefully an even tastier one. When I saw this recipe on Cupcakes and Cashmere, I’ve been looking for an excuse to make it. I think repurposing salty pretzels for dessert is genius.
Happy Eating and happy Tuesday. GO HAWKS!
Happy Friday! I’m still on a high from Sunday’s events. Yes the Seahawks won and I could not be happier. Our Super Bowl party was a success and here’s what I ended up making:
Those mini corn dog muffins were so cute and very yummy that I might just make them again for my next party.
This February is also the month that The Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR) is running their “Kisses 4 CANFAR” campaign. They’re asking Canadians to kiss HIV and AIDS goodbye by raising awareness and donating. You can wear red lipstick from February 1st to the 15th and tweet, Instagram or Facebook your photo with #smoochselfie #Kisses4Canfar to let others know about the campaign. You can also go to their website to donate!
Hope everyone has a nice weekend!
I am super excited for this weekend, there are no words. Ok, maybe there are some words, but first here are the things that made me very happy this week:
I got these $100 boots for $30!
I also bought my best friend and I matching Team Canada mittens because we were holding hands when we watched Sid Crosby score the game-winning goal last time. So even though we’re apart, we can watch the games “together”. Aren’t I the sweetest? The answer is yes.
The end of January also meant that Dlish Cupcakes‘ limited edition flavor was going to change so I just had to have these Belgian chocolate cupcakes filled with dulce de leche from Argentina one last time…or two…ok, fine, three!
And now for what I’m looking forward to the most: Super Bowl 48! I’ve already started to prep for my Super Bowl Party.
I’m still deciding on which of these recipes we’ll end up having on Sunday. I just know that it’s gonna be an amazing game between the Seahawks and the Broncos. I’m obviously rooting for Beast Mode and the Legion of Boom while some of my friends will be worshipping the ground Peyton Manning walks on until the end of time. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Hope everyone has an amazing weekend! Go Hawks 😉
Every year my friends and I gather for the Super Bowl. This year would be the first time we’re hosting and I could not be more excited. First of all, my team the Seahawks are playing. Second, they’re going up against the Broncos. Two of my friends are Denver fans, one is a die-hard Peyton Manning fan so that should make for an interesting atmosphere. And last but not least, the food, duh! Super Bowl is the perfect excuse to indulge. Making these cupcakes have always been my contribution each year to every Super Bowl party we attended:
But now that we’re hosting, in addition to my cupcakes, I want to try some new recipes and luckily the internet does not disappoint. These are the ones that caught my eye:
1. My friend Jon said he might bring this amazing-sounding dip. Please do Jon, please do.
2. Four words for you: Bacon. Potato. Cheddar. Tart. Obviously this recipe is by a Canadian chef.
3. The bf loves deviled eggs so I thought I might make them with an added Super Bowl twist.
4. Aren’t these just the most adorable little things you’ve ever seen?! Don’t you just want to eat them up?! Exactly.
5. Ever since I saw photos of people’s Super Bowl snack stadiums, I’ve been wanting to make one of my own. Will this be the year the Seahawks win? More importantly, will this be the year I build a snack stadium?
I won’t necessarily make all of them, especially the last one, but rest assured that there will be plenty of food to go along with the football. Go Hawks!
It’s Friday! Hope everyone had a great week. I know I did. Let me share with you a few of my favorite things:
Last Sunday we watched the AFC and NFC Divisional Championship games and my predictions came true. My Seahawks won and they’re going to the Super Bowl! I love hosting a Super Bowl Party so I’ll definitely do a post on that next week.
I was also hit with a sudden craving for pancakes but I can never make them as perfectly golden brown and slightly crispy on the outside while still being fluffy on the inside. Luckily I found a diner that can do them just the way I like ’em. I highly recommend getting pancakes this weekend, or making them if you’re more of an expert than I.
In fandom news, the DC Universe Animated movie Justice League: War came out this week. Apparently the post-credits scene alluded to a possible Aquaman movie which would make me so happy if it came true! For those who have not read the New 52 Aquaman, you might still think of him as a joke but they made him one of the most badass superheroes out there. Seriously.
Have a great weekend! Go shopping (window or online are both acceptable), make your Winterlicious reservations and just geek out over something you love.
Happy Hump Day everyone! Wednesday means it’s all downhill from here to the weekend and I wanna talk about what I’m most excited for, the NFL Divisional Championships on Sunday. Ever since I started getting into fantasy football, I’ve become a huge football fan. I love rooting for my team, the Seattle Seahawks, and I’m thrilled that they’re doing amazingly well this season. Honestly, the match-ups for this weekend are crazy. I don’t think anyone could’ve thought of better ones. Fans are seriously spoiled with what are basically two Super Bowls.
Here are the match-ups and since I’m also a huge Game of Thrones fan, I thought why not use these amazing NFL sigils by DJroomba:
Denver Broncos versus New England Patriots:
George R.R. Martin himself has said that the Patriots are the Lannisters of the NFL and I could not agree more. He also said the Starks are the New York Giants so by that logic, would Eli’s brother Peyton also be a Stark? I personally think the Broncos are the Baratheons. They have who they think is the rightful king Stannis Baratheon in the form of quarterback Peyton Manning, who will try and take out the evil King Joffrey aka Tom Brady. It’s going to be a great showdown between these two as they square off for the 15th time. Brady may have a 10-4 record against him but with Gronk out, I think Peyton’s got this.
My pick: Denver Broncos, cause why the hell would I ever pick the Lannisters?!
Seattle Seahawks versus San Francisco 49ers:
Since I’m rooting for the Seahawks, then that obviously makes them the Targaryens. Oh, you need more reasons? Fine. While it’s true that they’ve never won a Super Bowl and therefore don’t have the history of reigning over the NFL teams like the Targaryens did over Westeros, that doesn’t mean they don’t have a right to the throne. The Seahawks have slowly but surely been closing in over the years, much like Daenerys’ long journey to reclaim what is hers. And just like the Khaleesi’s three dragons, Khal Pete Carroll has three weapons he’ll unleash on the 49ers this Sunday: Russell Wilson, the Seattle Defense and Marshawn Lynch.
And which House do the 49ers belong to? Probably the Greyjoys, since they’re my least favorite House. Seriously, Colin Kaepernick is just as annoying as Theon Greyjoy. They’re both super cocky and think they deserve glory and admiration. For those who watch the show, you’ll know that Theon has been brought down a couple notches (to put it lightly) and I think this Sunday, Colin will get his.
My pick: Seattle Seahawks all the way! They shall take what is theirs with Lynch and blood.
